15 Years. One Story at a Time. Starting with Shelby.

Fifteen years ago, we wondered, “What would it look like to catalyze good across Memphis?”

The answer? Start with people. Invest in leaders. Build something that lasts.

That’s exactly what happened with Shelby Smith. She came to City Leadership as an intern – balancing classes at the University of Memphis and shifts at The Majestic Grille. Eight years later, she had been promoted four times and helped shape who we are today.

Watch Shelby's story below:

The 15 year anniversary is still just the beginning.

To mark this milestone, we’re highlighting voices like hers… People who helped build the foundation of this movement.

Shelby is just the beginning. We’ve got three more stories coming. And if you’ve followed City Leadership for a while, you’ll probably recognize them.

This has never been about one person or one team. It’s about what’s possible when people say “yes” to Memphis – and keep showing up.

We’re still saying yes. And we hope you will too.
