Our biggest year ever for Memphis teachers
Let's talk about teachers.
Because right now, in classrooms all over Memphis, teachers are showing up. Early mornings. Late nights. Lesson plans at the kitchen table. Pouring into our kids every single day.
And every one of those teachers had to get to that classroom somehow.
That's where Teach901 comes in.
Our Biggest Year Ever
Teach901 is having its most impactful year ever.
So far in 2026, we've placed more than 420 teachers in Memphis classrooms.
420+ teachers. And the year isn't over.
That's already more than all of 2025, which was our previous record at 325.
That's more than 1,400 teachers placed since 2020 and over 4,000 since we launched in 2013.
This is what it looks like when a city decides its classrooms matter.
Finding the Next Right Thing
Some of these teachers are brand new to Memphis. They came here because someone told them this city was worth teaching in. And we love being part of that.
Others have been in Memphis classrooms for years and were ready for something new. A different school. A different grade. A better fit.
Either way, our job is the same: help great teachers find their next right thing, right here in Memphis.
Because when a teacher finds the right classroom, they stay. And when they stay, our kids win. Strong classrooms build strong neighborhoods. Strong neighborhoods build a strong Memphis.
Saying Thank You All Year Long
We don't just place teachers. We celebrate them.
This year, over 1,000 teachers have shown up to Teach901 events, from job fairs to our Back to School Bash to Teacher Appreciation events across the city.
And just this Wednesday night, we packed into Wiseacre for an Abbott Elementary Watch Party, just for teachers.
Teachers, good beer, and a show that gets what they do every day. It's a small way we say thank you. But small thank-yous add up.
Our goal is simple: keep these things going all year long.
Don't Wait Until May
Teacher Appreciation Week is 8 months away.
But you don't have to wait. You can appreciate a teacher right now.
Write a note to your kid's teacher.
High-five a teacher.
Drop off a coffee in the front office.
Email the teacher who changed your life and tell them so.
Shout out a teacher on social media and tag @Teach901.
Tell a principal what their teacher means to your family.
Knock out something on a classroom wish list.
None of it takes long. All of it matters.
Teachers hear about everything that's going wrong. Let's make sure they hear about what's going right.
Keep This Work Going
Here's the truth: none of this happens without people who believe in Memphis classrooms.
Every placement. Every teacher finding their next right thing. Every watch party, job fair, and thank-you event. It's all made possible by Memphians investing in Memphis.
So I'm asking you to consider becoming a monthly donor to City Leadership.
Whatever amount means something to you. $10. $25. $100. It all goes toward keeping great teachers in front of Memphis kids.
This isn't charity. It's an investment in the people shaping the future of our city.
We're having a record year. Let's keep it going.
Keep choosing the 901.
P.S. Heads up: the Choose901 merch store is still open, but not for long! Grab your new favorite Memphis tee or hat before it closes. Every piece you scoop up helps fund campaigns that pour right back into this city, including our teachers. So go ahead, treat yourself. ๐งข
