WE HAVE MORE JOINING THE TEAM THIS SUMMER! MEET THE INTERNS INVESTING IN ALUMNI

At City Leadership, our summer interns bring energy and creativity. Their eagerness to learn makes a lasting impact on our organization and the city of Memphis as a whole, and we're excited to introduce more of our summer interns who just joined the team.

Six of these interns are participating through MPLOY, a program offered by the Memphis Office of Youth services that provides opportunities for local youth between the ages of 14-22 to engage in valuable work experiences over the Summer. MPLOY strives to connect its members with like-minded organizations based on their interests and strengths, and in turn, lead them to environments that will nurture their professional development. We can’t wait for you to get to know them better!

What do you love most about Memphis?

Despite all odds, Memphians continue to stay resilient. Even though the city isn't as developed as it should be compared to other cities, our spirit is unmatched, and I've never met someone who isn't proud to be from here. I love our accent, our music, our dances, our slang, everything! We do what we can with what we have, and that's what makes the city so special to me.

If you could describe yourself in a song, what would it be?

Want it All - Young Dolph. I fell in love w/ Hip Hop at a really young age, and Young Dolph was one of the many artists I would ride around listening to w/ my dad. A lot of people dismiss Hip Hop as a genre, I feel, but I think a lot of the lyrics are very uplifting, inspiring, and motivational. I'm a very ambitious person, and "Want It All" by Young Dolph is one of those songs that perfectly describes my mindset perfectly. I deserve it all, and I know I'm going to continue to work hard until I get exactly that.

What drew you to City Leadership?

I'd been following Choose901 online for a while now, and really enjoy their mission of drawing people to Memphis. I understand a lot of people often leave after graduation, because there doesn't seem to be much to offer here, but I would love to see this city grow and thrive in my lifetime. However, that won't happen if no one is here to put in the work to do so, which is why City Leadership was the place for me!
