Your 901 Day Guide is Here!
Hey Memphis—what a week!
We just wrapped a whirlwind of back-to-school fun with the Teach901 Back to School Bash and the Choose901 Pop-Up. Huge shoutout to every single one of you who donated to the Bash—we had over 200 educators show up, and together we raised enough to cover the tab for ALL of them 🙌.
Extra gratitude to our party co-hosts: Michael Johnson, Give Clean, Braniac Tutoring, Titan Pallet, Arize Restoration, and Meredith and Greg Martin.—y’all made it possible to kick off the school year in style.
And hey, the Choose901 online store is still open—so go ahead and snag your gear while sizes last.
901 Day is Here! 🥳
When I moved here “for a year or two” back in 2004, people kept asking me—usually with doubt—“Why Memphis?” Even Memphians weren’t sure about the city's future.
But what I discovered is what makes Memphis so unique: we’re one of the rare cities that has big-city amenities and true community. You can’t finish a coffee at Café Eclectic without bumping into friends, and you can’t go to FedExForum without catching up with half the arena.
That sense of connection is what makes this place worth investing in. And the truth is, our perspective has shifted: fifteen years ago, only 3 out of 10 Memphians were optimistic about our future. Today, more than half of Memphis residents reported feeling “favorable” towards the city. 88% of Memphians feel that Memphis is a city that has soul, and 64% believe their city is already or becoming a great place to live and work, which is a 16% increase since April 2024. That’s real momentum.
Memphis isn’t perfect—but it’s worth perfecting. And 901 Day is the perfect time to celebrate that! This day is about taking pride in where we live, the culture we’ve created, and the people who make the 901 what it is.
And to help you do the day justice—we put together your official 901 Day guide.
