What I do for city Leadership
As a Talent Coordinator at City Leadership, I work to serve the alumni who make up the Choose901 alumni program. My day-to-day involves connecting with different people such as alums and community partners in hopes of bridging the gap between the two.
Whether it’s providing talent services, building relationships, or driving initiatives that uplift our community, I’m dedicated to making sure that every effort contributes to the continuous progression and vibrancy of Memphis.
How I got to Memphis…
My first experiences with Memphis came during my time in college. I attended Texas Christian University, which was 12 hours from my hometown in middle Tennessee. My best friend Sarah at TCU was from Memphis, so during my junior year I began making an overnight stop to stay with her on my commutes to & from school throughout the year.
Through Sarah’s family showing me such warm hospitality and the beauty of the city—not to mention exposing me to all the great food—I quickly fell in love with Memphis.
The mission and vision of the Memphis Teacher Residency drew me in to make Memphis my home. After graduating from TCU and learning more about MTR, I was convinced of the need for equal education throughout our country. The organization’s dedication to restoring the communities of Memphis struck a chord with me and my fond memories of time here with my friend.
I moved to Memphis in May 2020 to begin my time with MTR, and I’ve fallen more in love with the city ever since.
Why I Choose901
I’ve been deeply impacted by my time with MTR and, specifically, by my incredible mentor teacher, Daniel Warner. Through his mentorship and friendship over my four years teaching at East High School, my vision for justice through education has grown and developed to extend beyond the classroom.
High quality educators are desperately needed to invest in our city’s students. In addition to that, high quality opportunities are desperately needed for our students to continue to investing in their personal growth. As a Talent Coordinator for the Choose901: Alumni Program, I see my role as an opportunity to continue investing in students and the young people of our city, in hopes that they will Choose901 and put down their roots here as young professionals. My hope is to see these students become the best employees and—eventually—the best leaders Memphis has ever seen.

When I’m not working with Alumni, you can find me spending quality time with my husband Eric and our goldendoodle Rory, enjoying one of the amazing Memphis restaurant patios with friends, doing a DIY project on our house, going to a Grizzlies game, rooting on one of my favorite sports teams, or reading on my couch.
