John Carroll WKNO Friday at 7:30
Quick one from me this week- a little bit of TV, a little bit of alumni love, and a good read at the bottom I want to point you toward.
Catch Me on The SPARK, Friday Night
Okay, I'll admit it- I had a blast doing this one.
This Friday, July 17 at 7:30pm, I'm on WKNO/Channel 10 for this month's episode of The SPARK, sitting down with host Jeremy C. Park to talk about "Finding Your Voice. Changing Our Community."
Getting to talk about the work we do here at City Leadership is always fun, but getting to do it alongside people like Sylvia Martinez from Girls Inc. of Memphis and Virginia Murphy and Aida Nozick from Everystory? That's the kind of lineup that makes you proud to be doing this work in Memphis.
I don't get a ton of chances to just sit and talk about why this city and this work matter to me without rushing to the next meeting. This was one of those chances, and I loved every minute of it.
If you miss it Friday, it re-airs at 12:30am on July 18 and again at noon on Sunday, July 19, all on WKNO/Channel 10. You can also stream it live on the WKNO website if you're outside the Mid-South.
Seriously, tune in Friday. And if you post about it, tag us so we can share it too.
New Alumni, New Chapter
With summer break underway and graduation ceremonies behind us, we've got a new class of alumni in the program. To send them off right, we're throwing an Alumni Block Party.
Think back to when you first headed out on your own. Maybe it was college, maybe it was your first apartment, your first job. That growing list of things you needed felt small item by small item, but it added up fast. That's where we come in.
We've built a wishlist for our new alumni with items as low as $10 and as high as $100, geared toward college life and toward stepping into the professional world. You can grab one thing or ten. Whatever you're called to give.
Just make sure you select Choose901 Alumni at checkout so it ships straight to our team, and list your name so we know who to thank.
These supplies are a reminder to every alum that Memphis believes in them. Let's send them off knowing this city is cheering them on.
Our alumni have a lot going on right now, and if you caught last week's newsletter, you know we're still on the hunt for a snow cone machine for Splash Jam. If you've got a lead on one, we'd love to hear from you.
