We need a snow cone machine (seriously)
Downtown Memphis got a little more crowded with future leaders this summer.
Choose901 Alumni hosted The Summer Exchange, a professional mixer connecting our alumni with the partners investing in their future.
"Dozens of Choose901 Alumni who are current college students, currently working in the city, or who have just graduated were able to connect and network with current leaders in the community."
— Breunna Wilson, Choose901 Alumni Director
The evening gave alumni access to resources they don't always have on hand, like one-on-one coaching and professional headshots they can actually use on a resume or LinkedIn.
Partners Behind the Night
None of it happens without people who believe in Memphis's future workforce.
The Henry Turley Company, led by Alex Turley, gifted the event space, a rooftop with views of the new Brooks Museum, the Memphis Bridge, and the Peabody Hotel.
The Downtown Memphis Commission sponsored the bar. And Poparoos sent Effie Johnson and her team to hand out popcorn as a thank-you gift for every alumnus who walked in.
Which Brings Me to Next Week
If the Summer Exchange was alumni connecting with partners, Splash Jam is alumni connecting with each other.
We're throwing a pool party on Friday, July 18th, 6 to 8pm. Alumni from different schools and different grad years, all in one place, just being kids for a night. Mentorship that doesn't feel like mentorship. That's Memphis at its best.
Here's where you come in.
We're looking for sponsors to help make this happen, and we've got one very specific, very fun need: a snow cone machine.
If you or your business owns one, or you know somebody who does, lend it, gift it, whatever works for you. We just need it for the day.
One event behind us worth celebrating. One event ahead of us that needs your help. That's Memphis- always building on what came before.
