Meet JACK BERRY

Jack Berry

Jack joined the team in January 2026 as a communications resident.

What do you do at City Leadership?

I serve on the City Leadership communications and operations team and work closely with the marketing department. My role shifts wherever the need is — from helping create and edit videos, to directing shoots, to spending time on projects and details that help our team work better together. I also help manage and support our social media accounts, contributing to content, strategy, and creative assets across Choose901, Serve901, Teach901, Give901, and all of the 901 initiatives. Wherever I can help, I’m there.

Beyond day-to-day communications, I invest significant time working with AI tools and learning how to implement them into our team processes. My goal is to streamline workflows and create more margin so we can gain back time and focus on what matters most. I’m often at the intersection of creativity and operations — helping design graphics, plan campaigns, and support internal collaboration.

I also work with our merch team, whether that means designing new items, assisting with marketing efforts, or helping connect merchandise to the broader story we’re telling. From creative production to operations support, my focus is simple: helping Memphis move forward and helping our team do it together.

HOW I GOT TO MEMPHIS

I’ve called Memphis home for as long as I can remember. I grew up here and graduated from Evangelical Christian School, which gave me a strong foundation and a deep appreciation for this city’s culture and community. At fifteen, I began making music, and that early creative spark eventually opened the door to several entrepreneurial pursuits — from launching a dropshipping business at sixteen, to starting a clothing brand at seventeen.

As my interest in music grew more serious, I also became passionate about videography and digital storytelling. I spent years studying the craft, learning how to create engaging content, and exploring strategies for growth and marketing. Those experiences shaped the way I think about creativity: not just as art, but as a tool to connect people and ideas.

I’ve always loved Memphis and wanted to build my life here. Now, serving on the communications and operations team at City Leadership, I have the opportunity to bring all of those creative and business experiences together in a meaningful way. Being part of this organization allows me to use sound, video, design, and innovation to support an amazing mission in a city I care about deeply. I’m grateful to help tell the ongoing story of the 901 from a place that truly feels like home.

Why I Choose901

Memphis has always felt like home because my family, friends, and community grew up here with me. It’s been a culture and space where I was able to learn, take risks, and pursue my dreams, surrounded by amazing mentors who invested their time and guidance along the way. Those relationships shaped my appreciation for the 901 and the way people here help one another grow.

About me

My free time is largely spent on creative and relational interests, including playing guitar, writing, designing in the fashion space, and staying active through basketball. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, which keeps me humble and learning. As a lifelong Memphian, I love following local sports, and I bring the same passion as a fan that many people in the 901 do — you’ll often find me celebrating or feeling the emotions of the moment right along with the rest of the city.
