MEET IAIN PARKS, CITY LEADERSHIP RESIDENT

Hello! I’m Iain, and I am one of the new Residents at City Leadership. I worked with Serve901 during my senior year at Rhodes College, and when they offered me the opportunity to work with City Leadership again I jumped at the chance. Now, I work primarily with the Choose901 recruiting team, but I also work with Teach901 and Serve901.

I was born and raised in Frayser, and I went to White Station High School. GO SPARTANS! I was blessed with the opportunity to attend Rhodes College as a Bonner Scholar, a national scholarship with a focus on community service and social justice. I graduated in May of 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Political Science. Originally, I wanted to move to Washington D.C. and be in the midst of politics, but as I continued working with City Leadership, Memphis became the city to beat. D.C. just didn’t come close.

The best part is that I get to stay in the city that I love, and I can continue to explore all the new and old restaurants in Memphis. If I’m not devouring pizza from Aldo’s, or getting brain freeze from Jerry’s Sno Cones, I might just be playing pinball in Crosstown Concourse, or going to a 901FC game.

There are so many places I haven’t been, and things I haven’t eaten yet. I have been in Memphis for 22 years, and it still astonishes me all the things I haven’t done. I am excited to explore, to learn, and to grow here in Memphis.
